Card Challenges

Operation Write Home is having its Memorial Day blog hop. OWH sends handmade greeting cards to deployed service members so they can write home to their families. Click the pretty logo if you'd like to look at some cardmakers' blogs.

Yesterday Operation Write Home mailed its ONE MILLIONTH handmade greeting card to deployed service members to write home to their families.

In addition to sending blank cards for them to write home on, OWH also sends letters of encouragement and thanks to our deployed heroes.

Please take a minute to celebrate this milestone with OWH. Watch this video, or stop by the website or their Facebook page and leave a comment. Consider re-posting this video or mentioning OWH to your friends (especially the ones who are crafty so they can get involved).

It's easy to say, "We support the troops!" Take a moment to support a group that actually sends support to our troops.

Hi all! I have exchanged a couple of messages with our lovely mod kandipants and she is kindly letting me post a challenge for us! I hope seeing each other post some cards will spark all of our creativity and we can get the challenges rolling again.

It's a little early but let's call it the October Challenge. We're going to start out simple. The challenge is pumpkins! It can be a Halloween jack-o-lantern or a Thanksgiving image or just a general fall theme, but in whatever format, your card must have a pumpkin on it!

Please post your cards between now and October 31st. From all the entries I will pick a random winner to receive a little prize!

Here are a few pumpkin themed cards I made for samples, hopefully they'll spark some ideas for y'all.

Hey all! I've been lurking around this comm for a while now and have found some great inspiration looking through the entries, so I thought it's probably about time I gave something back! =P  I don't make cards often (I'm a slow worker - they take me forever!), but when I do they're usually pop-ups, Iris folding or stitching cards.
Anyway, here's one I made for a friend's birthday - I think it's called a 'Tri-fold shutter card' or something??

Hey everyone! 

How was your holiday? Are you back to the grind yet? (Ugh I'm feeling it I tell ya -  month end, quarter end and year end are not good when you work in Finance as the AP person!)

Ok, so just a quickie question. I was recently accepted on a few design teams so I'm worried I won't be able to keep up on here. So, here is the question, and then in poll form!

Would you rather I step down and let someone else take over to bring you challenges each month, or are you ok with only one (maybe two) challenge(s) each month? I started this comm because the card comms that were out there had slowly dwindled, and I don't want to see that happen here at all! However, I know myself, and I know I can be a slacker/procrastinator. So really, it is entirely up to you guys! I have truly enjoyed getting to know you all, and I've had a blast sharing and seeing what you all come up with! So let me know what you want, this is your comm! :)

If you have another idea, or you would want to help out with challenges, etc. let me know in the comments! :) I do have a challenge (2 actually!) for this month, so I can still post that tomorrow, but its up to you all! :) Thanks!
